Why should anyone heed GOD's 10 Commandments anymore?
A return to GOD's 10 Commandment Law is not the vehicle to return us to the Father...it is truly a schoolmaster to lead us to Christ, showing us that we are incapable of ourselves to attain the righteousness required to fellowship with the Father in true holiness.

My hubby and I believe that Jesus comes alongside us to encourage and strengthen us to walk in grateful, loving obedience to GOD. Only His supreme sacrifice could put us in a position to qualify for righteousness, no?
My hubby and I personally desire to keep His Sabbaths as He ordained them...not because we must in order to be saved, but because we have sanctified the day HE designated as a tithe of our time and hearts to HIM. (No, we are not saying that a tithe is mandatory for salvation, but it is a gift we love to give to HIM, and true acknowledgement of what HE has given us!)

True, we can worship Him any time...any day...but DO we? If we were to be totally honest with ourselves, with the business pressures and family needs of everyday life...are we able to truly give HIM the time and dedication HE richly deserves? A passing moment of prayer, a hurried devotional period before we must take off for work or feed the baby or fight our way through the morning commute?

Saturday...a day given by much to accomplishing all the things needed to do because our busy schedules did not permit the commission of them during the week.

Mike and I, through much prayer and study have appreciated the Jewish believers for maintaining HIS standard of the Sabbath, as the day HE set aside for unburdening ourselves and those around us for time for rest and devoting ourselves to holiness.

Too many outside and inner pressures work against a true devotional day in His word...and it is so easy to make excuses(even "reasonable" ones) for neglecting Him.

When your children visit Grandma, do you want them to run off and "do their own thing" rather than spend time with her? When she hasn't seen them for awhile, and has been practically living for their visit? When your children come to you for precious time spent with their Dad...do you want them so dispersed by their natural attention span of a gnat that they will only acknowledge you and run off before you can talk with them?

One of the reasons outside of Scripture that Mike and I are not dragged along with other sheep for Sunday only worship, is that churches have become so much more of "business" than holiness - treating the effects of sin rather than addressing the true nature of sin.

I have no quarrels with those who keep Sunday as their church-day, but what of their day of rest and holiness unto the Lord? How many people do you personally know who do not go home after church and get back into worldly things...for the sake of the children, for example?
There was a very good reason GOD ordained the seventh day to be for Him and for us.

HE rested on the seventh day and blessed and hallowed it for us.

Where is our gratitude, our thankful hearts to Him for the rest and time spent in fellowship with Him? He told us that the world would demand our attention for six days...paraphrased, of course!...six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work...but the seventh
day is given to us to return to Him, no? HE even gave the land a Sabbath!

We must stop playing at being Christians and start living for Him in holiness and true faith. We must stop sinning with impugnity, trusting HIM to forgive us time after time, no matter how often or blithely we sin. Aren't such putting Him to an open shame? Why must we continue to crucify Christ afresh? Aren't we grateful enough to appreciate the fact that HE saved our lives to enable us to rejoin the Father in true fellowship and holiness?

Granted we are children...still growing...but there comes a time when the disobedient child will run into the street and get hit by a car, and all we can do cannot keep him from the consequences of his actions. We grieve, we cry out to GOD, we try to bring life back to a lifeless little body that only knew that his way was better than our way.

Let us strive to obey Him and not fight Him so much! Let us stop arguing over petty matters and look at the "big picture"...our lives here are but a vapor...only what is done for and through Christ will last.

Whew! Time to get off my soapbox, no? If you will, please show me Scripturally where GOD actually instructed us that HIS 10 Commandment Law was of no further importance to us...that we can continue to sin against GOD and man because Christ came to save us from the punishment of sin.

We must thirst for His righteousness, and that ours will be the outflow of His living waters!

In and for HIS name's sake,

Hebrews 10:26-32!

ps. I must clarify a couple of points...I realize that many people may think that I am referring to the keeping of the 613 Jewish laws - I am not. I am referring to the 10 Commandments as written by GOD with HIS Finger, twice, on the two tablets HE had Moses hew out of stone (Exo.20:20 and on).

Also, my main topic appears to be centered on Sabbath-keeping...and it is. Mainly because the Sabbath is the easiest Commandment to break or ignore...as so many find it more convenient to worship "when the church doors are open", therefore missing the concept of "rest". Hope this helps!

pps. I indeed have sent this post to other forums, and after much discussion all have agreed that this is definitely not "spam", but a way of opening ourselves to new levels of thinking about GOD'S 10 Commandments. Hoping you also agree!

With HIS Love...

Judi

Hi Judith,

I agree thank you for this good post.

One of the main reasons that I got involved in the internet is because it is 27 7 vs. the one hour of Church on Sunday.

I know that that is not what you were getting at but Im curious about your thoughts on the internet and if it helps people throughout the week to stay focused.

I know that I particularly find the email devotions that I subscribe to be helpful.

Thank you,

God Bless you,
David

Shalom ALeichem Judith:
While I of course agree, that people, especially believers should follow the Ten Commandments, I submit to you that they are not our standard that JESUS gave us to be Measured by. Many non-Christians (non-Believers) are under the mistaken assumption that we are LAWLESS. Not true, we have the most High standard that God has ever given. Higher than the standard that was given to the Hebrews on Sinai.
Here is why:

1. The LAW was given to the HEBREWS. The HEBREWS did not keep the LAW as God told Moishe (Moses) they WOULD not. SO thus, the need for salvation. As the book of Prophet Isaiah chapter 49:6 states this SALVATION (Yeshuwah) was not just given for the HEBREWS but for the GENTILES as well, who where not under the 10 commandments or ANY part of the Mosaic covenant.

Seeing as the Gentile believers, unlike the Nazarenes never had the Mosiac Law or the TEN commandments, what is the standard that applies to BELIEVERS Hebrew or Gentile?

Well we see that JESUS sums up the commandments here in Matthew 22:36-40:

"36": Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

"37": Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

"38": This is the first and great commandment.

"39": And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

"40": On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

So Love, as God loves US and as we Love him and each other is the foundation. Now, what else is there? The Focus for BELIEVERS past this point, which we do out of obedience and love is to be LED BY THE SPIRIT.

Believers are to be LED BY THE SPIRIT. THIS is a VERY important thing. If we are LED BY THE SPIRIT, then we are in line with the perfect will of God, which there is no standard higher. A Believer knows he has done wrong when he does it, before he does it, because WE have the SPIRIT OF GOD in US. If one is listens to that SPirit, then one will NOT do wrong. However, oft times we either don't listen or have not been told that this IS our measure.

This is vital. For some things are LAWFUL, however, some times the Spirit will tell you not to take an action, even if we can justify it under Law.

Here is an example. There is NO LAW saying "Thou Shalt not be married". Now, let's say you have a believer, whom has dated a man for a year, and he has played the role, acting as if he were born again, merely to just eventually get in her pants. He asked her to marry him, she being obedient to the Law, knows that this is decent (as marriag is) and seeing him in her natural mind as a man of God, says yet. However, the HOLY GHOST is saying NO!!. SHe may quench the SPirit and not listen, she may justify her marrying this man (because she wants him) by LAW, the Ten commandment say Adultry is sin (Adultry I will define for this example as in someone promised to be married who has sex with someone other than the person she or he is to marry, as In God's will, he has selected whom this person should be with, and it is not what the devil has sent her here).

Anyway, That is WHY we are to be LED BY THE SPIRIT. HE is never wrong.

JESUS says here in JOHN 14:26

"26: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Very serious statement. APostle Paul expands upon this here 1 Cor 3:16:

16: Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

IT IS IN EVERY BELIEVER, and EVERY BELIEVER should focuse on BEING LED BY HIM, for as Paul Says here in Romans 8:14:

"14": For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

ANyway, I just wanted to add that. There are many Hebraic roots movements within the Body of Christ, and that is well, HOWEVER, if we want to get back to the roots of our faith as believers, we are to be 1st and foremost LED BY THE SPIRIT of GOD.

In John 14:21,23, Christ said,
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him....
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Matthew 7: 21-23:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

"...if we hold steadfast to the end."
Heb. 3: 12-14 is especially clear:
Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.

We must strive to obey and follow Christ throughout our lives, enduring to the end to be saved (Matt. 24:13, Matt. 10:22, Mark 13:13, 1 Tim. 4:16; Heb. 3:14). This is why Paul can say in Philippians 2:12 that the Saints must "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (See also 1 Peter 1:17.)

James chapter 2:

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Peter says "ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth" (1 Peter 1:22). In this section, he also warns of judgment according to works and of the need to be concerned (1 Peter 1:17), of the need to withstand trials of our faith (1 Peter 1:6-9); and the need to lay aside sin (2 Peter 2:1,11).
(James 4:6-10):

6 . . . Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Christ says :
If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

I have more if you would like to have them. Learn how people lie and misrepresent my faith.
